Akademischer Arbeitskreis Japan (AAJ) [Austria-Japan Study Group for Humanities, Social Sciences & Art]
The Austria-Japan Study Group for Humanities, Social Sciences & Art is a scholarly, non-political, non-profit making association open to all persons interested in Japan. Its approximately 120 members include scholars, journalists and artists, students and graduates of the Japanese section of the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Vienna, as well as interested lay persons.
The AAJ was established in 1985 with the aim to further the dissemination of knowledge and exchange of information about Japanese society and culture. The AAJ organizes lectures and seminars, movie presentations and visits to exhibitions as well as informal meetings. Furthermore, it issues the biannual journal MINIKOMI which contains original articles, book reviews, conference news and announcements of Japan-related events in Austria.
