Goodbye to visiting Professors Tominaga and Takeda

For the last two weeks we were fortunate to host Professors Tominaga Kyoko, Ritsumeikan University, and Takeda Shunsuke, Shiga University, as visiting professors in our offices.

Professor Tominaga is a sociologist who specializes on social movements and civil society in Japan. Her research on the student movement SHIELDS has been published in a recent monograph.

Professor Takeda, who researches tradition and conflict in local community participation in a small town in Western Japan, reported findings of his extensive fieldwork to the Aso Study Group.

Both visitors donated their own publications to the Department of East Asian Studies Library.
